Come on over to
rs_small_gifts--the low-key, low-stress holiday fest for all your r/s needs. We are pleased to announce that we've add a BONUS ROUND!
Anyone can play, so if you forgot to get something for Aunt Muriel, forgot to make a dish for the potluck, or just want to put a smile on someone's face, there is still time.
If you are not a writer or an artist but cannot believe that no one has ever written the one about the time Sirius ran away to join the circus and met an intriguing, amber-eyed boy who swept out the elephant cages, this is your chance to leave that prompt (I should be careful. Someone has probably written that. Or will now...). Anyone can leave prompts HERE.
Come join us!!

Pairings: Remus/Sirius.
Warnings: Here be angst. Set after a week after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Stream of conscious-y. Un-beta'd.
Author's Note: This pushes a few of my buttons when it comes to memories of those who have died. Please be careful, loves.

Welcome to Days One and Two of
brighty18 and
littlemissgg 's Nondenominational Holiday Fanfic (and Fanart) Fest. The title makes it sound far more pretentious than it really is, for basically we just invited everyone on our f-list to do participate in a gift exchange. Each participant who signed-up provided a wish list of what they would like to receive on a holiday morning and then was assigned a Clandestine Nondenominational Holiday Friend (Secret Santa) for whom they would create a work of art/fic.
Day One:
Title: Brooms, Floos, and Faulty Portkeys
For:
chibitoaster
Characters/Pairings: Sirius (offstage Sirius/Remus) and Gilderoy Lockhart
Rating and Warnings: PG13. For foul language, preening adults, and questionable translations of foreign tongues.
Word Count: About 6.600 (Sorry, WAY over.)
Summary: Trapped in Albania, all Sirius wants to do is get home for Christmas, but the journey becomes a little more difficult than anticipated when he meets an old school friend. This was meant to be humor. I hope it works.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters and universe are the sole property of JK Rowling and her various publishing entities. The basic idea for the story belongs to John Hughes. Thus, virtually nothing belongs to me and no offense is intended. Extra apologies to Steve Martin and John Candy (RIP.)
Day Two:

Title: This Mad Country Excursion (2/2)
Author:
grandilloquism
Rating: PG-13
Summary: "The pond was not very large. It was cool though, and shaded by a half-circle of largish elm trees that left the grass green and comfortable. Sirius sat, jeans rolled up to his knees, on the edge of the pond, on that grass, feet swinging lazily in the water, eating an apple and chatting, quite animatedly, to a Remus who was not listening."
Author's Note: This did not end exactly how I had planned it to, characters (mainly Sirius) having developed minds of their own and stoutly refusing to follow my directions. Perhaps I can convince myself to write the proper end to this another time, this was hard enough to negotiate, though, so perhaps not. The poem mentioned in the first part (and reflected upon in this) is George Barker's To Any Member of My Generation, one of my absolute favorites. Also, my knowledge on orchards (of any kind) is poor, but hopefully it isn't too distracting.
Part One and Part Two both on my fic journal

Title: Five People Remus Lupin Loved in Different ways, and One He Never Did.
Rating: Uhhh... PG-13? I suppose?
Word Count: Over 3000. Jesus christ, I haven't written a fic this long in years. Hell, I've barely written an essay this long since I finished high school. Pairings: Remus/Lily, Remus/James (unrequited), Remus/Sirius, Remus/Tonks.
Warnings: I make you drag yourself through het to get to the slash. I hope it's worth it.
Author's Note: THIS THING WOULDN'T LET ME SLEEP. I finished it at 1:37am, and proceeded to stay awake until 3am. In addition, this is un-beta'd. Also, I've had
anna_bm 's "The Best of Times" fan mix playing constantly as I wrote this. Seriously. I started with each song played 3 times; it was up to 21 times when I finished.
Author's Note #2: I know Teddy's birthdate couldn't be that late in April. However, in Australia, the 25th of April is Anzac Day. A speech I studied in my last year of English at high school had this to say about the Anzac legend:
"But, in honouring our war dead, as we always have and as we do today, we declare that this is not true. For out of the war came a lesson which transcended the horror and tragedy and the inexcusable folly. It was a lesson about ordinary people – and the lesson was that they were not ordinary. On all sides they were the heroes of that war; not the generals and the politicians but the soldiers and sailors and nurses – those who taught us to endure hardship, to show courage, to be bold as well as resilient, to believe in ourselves, to stick together."
If you read the full speech [[ http://www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/keat ing.asp ]] I think it fits the Marauders. I think that having the child of a Marauder born on ANZAC day is quite fitting.

Hey everyone~ ♥ People have been checking my stuff out on FF.net some, but I just wanted to make sure I shared with you guys here on LJ too:
The Number 12, Grimmauld Place Practical Joke War of the Summer of 1995
rated light R; Remus/Sirius with side/weird/not-really-a-romance Fred/George
Summary: Fred and George's demands for proof that Remus and Sirius really are the famed Moony and Padfoot escalate into a full-scale war inside Grimmauld Place. All too soon, both sides start playing dirty.
and also
If I Only Had
rated PG-13; Marauders-era Remus/Sirius with mentions of canon!James/Lily; written for a friend's birthday
Summary: Sirius may have run away from home, and Peter may be lacking in Gryffindor courage, and James may have absolutely nothing between his ears, but maybe Remus Lupin has got a heart, after all.
Always happy to share! ♥ I'm really glad I finally joined this community; I love getting stuff on my flist from all the other wonderful contributors to this fandom. :)
